ZNPP meeting
Last week, Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with Kyiv’s strikes on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. About it RIA News said a source in the permanent mission of the Russian Federation.
Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council for the afternoon of August 11 in connection with the Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in recent days and their possible catastrophic consequences
This information was later confirmed by Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN. Later, he said that at the meeting of the Security Council, no one supported the Ukrainian version of the events around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Let’s hope that the past discussion, during which, despite the obsession with accusations against Russia, no one, in fact, supported the delusional Ukrainian version of events, will keep the Ukrainian leadership from new reckless provocations
Polyansky also expressed hope that the visit of the head of the IAEA Rafael Grossi to ZNPP will take place in the near future and he will not be hindered by Kyiv or the UN Secretariat, “no matter how much he denies his similar line.”
Russia in the UN Security Council
On June 28, Volodymyr Zelensky, during a speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council, called for Russia to be excluded from the Security Council, where it is a permanent member, and also to be recognized as a “terrorist state.”

Later, the official representative of the Chairman of the UN General Assembly, Polina Kubiak, responded to the appeal of the Ukrainian president. According to her, an exception is impossible, since all such decisions are made through the Security Council, in which Russia has the right to veto.
In turn, Dmitry Polyansky emphasized that such a development of events is possible only with the dissolution of the organization and its creation anew. He added that Ukraine is trying to “shake” and play on the emotions of the members of the Security Council, who began to get tired of this topic. According to the diplomat, Kyiv’s only argument is that Russia “is not worthy to be in the UN as a whole.”
