UGT and CC OO attribute the limited follow-up to the strike this Thursday to the minimum services set by the Ministry, and announce a large demonstration
The education unions that held this Thursday an educational strike and concentration in San Esteban against the cuts, CC OO, UGT and Sterm, announced during the protests that they will maintain their protest actions in the street, and have even proposed holding a large demonstration to denounce the “precarious situation of public schools” after years of cuts and “disastrous management” by the Ministry of Education.
The unions attributed the limited monitoring of the educational strike to the minimum services decreed by the regional government, which they have denounced, considering them “abusive. With full awareness of its illegality, the regional Administration dictated and imposed such abusive minimum services that in some educational centers they have affected up to 70% of the ordinary staff”, denounced CC OO, who recalled that in the teaching strike called in September of 2020, “the regional government already decreed abusive minimum services that ended with a conviction by the TSJ.”
From UGT, Toñi del Vas regretted the application of these services, “which have prevented dozens of teachers from joining the strike.” Del Vas insisted that the union centrals, which have elections on December 1, want to maintain the tension of demands in the streets, and proposed “a hot autumn” of mobilizations, with educational strikes on Thursdays and a demonstration that will be held, with all probability, next November 29.
