The UCO attributes to Attorney General García Ortiz a “preeminent participation” in the “leak” of Ayuso’s boyfriend’s pact

The Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard has concluded in a report that the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, had “a preeminent participation” in the “leak” of the agreement negotiated by the prosecutor Julián Salto and the boyfriend of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Alberto González Amador, in the month of March. The leak of the emails exchanged between González Amador’s lawyer and Salto is precisely the core of the investigation that the Supreme Court is directing against García Ortiz.

In those emails, Ayuso’s boyfriend acknowledged his responsibility for two crimes of tax fraud and another of document falsification and negotiated a compliance agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office to avoid a possible prison sentence. After its leak and the issuance of a press release from the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor’s Office that spoke about this matter, González Amador filed a complaint for revelation of secrets and alleged that his right to defense had been violated.

Months after the presentation of that complaint, the UCO has agreed to “all communications of the provincial chief prosecutor, Pilar Rodríguez, with other members of the Prosecutor’s Office in relation to the facts investigated”. The Civil Guard report, to which this newspaper has had access, analyzes messages sent between March 8 and 14 of this year.

The investigators have adhered to the deadline set by the judge investigating the case in the Supreme Court that is from March 8, 2024 until the 14th of that month. The UCO concludes that on March 13, at 9:59 p.m., Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz accessed the emails, which were leaked at 31:51 p.m. of the same day.

After analyzing the messages exchanged in this period of time, the Civil Guard points out that “the leak must begin in the Prosecutor’s Office.” He even points out that those responsible should be the State Attorney General, the Provincial Chief Prosecutor of Madrid, the Senior Prosecutor Almudena Lastra, the Senior Prosecutor for Economic Crimes or the Prosecutor for Economic Crimes.
