The UAE topped the list of the most powerful CEOs in the Middle East region, issued by Forbes Middle East magazine, where the UAE came at the top of the list with 19 CEOs, followed by the Arab Republic of Egypt with 16 business leaders, and Saudi Arabia with 15 business leaders, during the current year.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, “CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company “ADNOC” and its group of companies” and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company “ADNOC” came in second place on the list, where “Forbes” confirmed that His Excellency Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber led ADNOC to achieve unprecedented successes, represented by the successful offering of four ADNOC subsidiaries on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, namely, ADNOC Distribution, ADNOC Drilling, Fertiglobe and Borouge, which became the initial public offering of Borouge. The $2 billion IPO is the largest ever in Abu Dhabi.
This year’s list of the top 100 CEOs in the region consists of leaders from 26 nationalities, with the list being topped by Eng. Amin Al-Nasser, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco.
The banking and financial services sector was the most represented sector in the list with 27 CEOs, followed by eight communications CEOs, and seven each headed by energy and logistics companies, as they collectively managed to manage revenues of more than one trillion dollars last year. Their combined companies are worth more than $5 trillion.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai World, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World Group and Chairman of Ports and Customs Corporation ranked sixth. And the free zone, and Syed Basr Shuaib, CEO and Managing Director of the International Holding Company, came in ninth place, and Hana Al Rostamani, CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank, came in fourteenth place. And in the twenty-second place, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
