Yesterday, members of the United Nations General Assembly elected the UAE to membership in the Security Council along with Albania, Brazil, Gabon and Ghana for the period 2022-2023. The UAE joined the United Nations in 1971, coinciding with the establishment of the state, and previously held a seat on the Security Council from 1986-1987.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, stressed that the country’s election to the Security Council for the period 2022-2023 is a reflection of its active diplomacy, appreciation of its international position, and its distinguished development model.
