The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand to enhance cooperation in the field of food security. The memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the UAE’s strategic direction to enhance international cooperation and coordination and exchange experiences and successful experiences with all countries of the world to enhance capabilities to meet all challenges, ensure a better sustainable future and benefit from economic relations and ties with New Zealand.
The memorandum was signed by Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Muhairi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and Damian O’Connor, New Zealand’s Minister of Trade, Export Growth and Agriculture. On the new partnership, Her Excellency Maryam Al Muhairi said: The UAE enjoys strong relations and ties with the State of New Zealand in various sectors and fields, especially the economic and trade fields. Climate change and the environment to build bridges of cooperation and partnership with the relevant authorities and bodies in many countries A memorandum of understanding was signed with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the field of food security and ensuring the continuity of supply chains. She added: Under the memorandum, exchanges of experiences, knowledge and successful experiences will be promoted, which in turn enhances food security based on modern technologies and innovative solutions.
For his part, His Excellency Demian O’Connor said: I am pleased to be in the UAE and to sign a memorandum of understanding on strengthening our partnerships and cooperation in the areas of food security with His Excellency Maryam Al Muhairi. The memorandum confirms the important role New Zealand plays in the food trade exchange with the UAE and aims to increase it in addition to enhancing the participation of Knowledge and successful experiences in the field of food security. The cooperation includes three main areas: the exchange of knowledge, experiences and successful experiences, focusing on employing modern technologies and artificial intelligence in agriculture and food production, and enhancing the flexibility and continuity of the supply chains of mutual food products, in addition to exchanging policies and best practices applied in the two countries in the food production and agriculture sector. Officials of the two ministries are scheduled to meet regularly to develop a plan for joint activities and programs aimed at advancing areas of cooperation in agriculture and enhancing food security in the two countries.
