Registrations in 2021 did not reach pre-pandemic levels, but from Anesdor they make a positive balance of the last year
Motorbikes and motorcycles have become a mobility alternative, especially in urban areas, as a consequence of the Covid crisis. In its balance of 2021, the motorcycle and light vehicle sector has recovered the growth path with a total of 193,324 vehicles registered last year,
5% more than in 2020. These are positive data although the figures prior to the pandemic have not been reached, since the 2020 registrations were 4.5% lower than those of 2019.
However, from the industry
more green shoots are predicted, with an estimated growth for this year that could exceed 9%.
As the president of Anesdor, Ramón Bosch, has indicated in a press conference to analyze the motorcycle market, 2021 has been a “positive” year, despite the difficulties that the sector has faced.
Thus, from the organization
expect all segments of the two-wheeler market to report favorable data this year, with expectations that the component supply problem will be reduced in the second half of 2022.
Sales of motorcycles, which account for the bulk of the two-wheeler sector by volume,
will grow by 9.1%, to 180,100 units, in the year 2022, according to the forecasts of the
National Association of Companies in the Two-Wheel Sector (Anesdor).
The moped segment will reach 18,800 units registered in Spain in 2022, increasing by 6%. For their part, tricycles will register a growth of 21.3%, up to 3,900 units, while
the quad segment will increase by 15.8%, to 8,400 units.
Therefore, sales of motorcycles and light vehicles will grow by 9.2% this year, reaching 211,200 units,
after having registered 193,324 vehicles in 2021, 5% more than in 2020 and a share that reaches 16% of registrations.
Finally, from Anesdor they have also emphasized the safety data of 2021,
when 241 motorcycle users died on the roads, 45 less than in 2019, since in 2020 it was reduced by more than 30% due to the drop in mobility due to the pandemic.
