Service stations and large transport operators note the lack of fuel due to the blockade of the pickets and large companies fear that it will affect production
The strike of the autonomous carriers begins and has consequences. Its negative effects are already clearly noticeable in some productive sectors of the Region of Murcia in only the second day of the indefinite strike. Specifically, yesterday, Tuesday, the fuel supply of some service stations and important logistics groups began to be affected due to supply problems due to the actions of the pickets, especially in the Valle de Escombreras area. Likewise, there were problems for the movement of goods in the Molina de Segura and Cavila (Caravaca de la Cruz) industrial estates.
The concern is more than latent in leading companies in the chemical and food sector, among other branches of activity. And it is that, if the current situation continues, the problem could extend to the whole of the regional productive fabric. In fact, the Fremm metal federation itself maintains contacts with the Government Delegation in order to guarantee the free transit of vehicles.
However, although the monitoring of the mobilization is still limited, compared to the group of professionals who work in this activity -the Froet employers’ association does not support it-, the truck drivers participating in the call of the National Platform in Defense of the Transport Sector They were also very active yesterday in their protest actions. Although this time without making roadblocks, as they did at dawn on Monday.
As a consequence of this, some service stations in different parts of the Murcian territory were yesterday at a minimum of storage in the different diesel and gasoline products, and in some cases even out of supply. “It is true that the lack of fuel is already suffering,” the president of the Association of Service Station Companies in the Region, José Baños, acknowledges to LA VERDAD. And the same is happening with the supply of butane gas.
“In my case –whose station under the Repsol brand is located in Venta de Baños, on the Northwest motorway–, I have not noticed it because they have supplied us from the Alicante facilities”, indicates José Baños. And it is that, given the existing problems in Escombreras, it was decided to resort to the Exolum (CLH) deposits in the neighboring province, as well as in Valencia. “What is incomprehensible is that the cisterns cannot be moved here and they can be moved there,” he adds.
Because the companies most affected by the blockade due to the strike criticized a certain passivity in the security devices that would have to guarantee the normal transit of vehicles. In fact, they regret that dozens of trucks were affected in other industrial areas of the Region, especially in the surroundings of Molina de Segura and in the area of Cavila, in Caravaca, in the connection of the highway with Lorca and also the communication towards Granada through the Puebla de Don Fadrique.
However, at no time were there any significant incidents, nor any violent actions. On the other hand, sources from the Civil Guard reported that, both in the Caravaca industrial estate and in Escombreras, as well as in other points, “the trucks that want to enter and leave, enter and leave, and, if necessary, facilitate that entry. or exit, the Civil Guard that is in the place».
The lack of fuel already affects Cartagena, Murcia and San Javier
The lack of fuel derived from the carriers’ strike and the blockade of access to the Valle de Escombreras, in Cartagena, already affects the supply of service stations in cities such as Murcia, Cartagena, San Javier, Mula and Bullas, among others, according to The manager of the Dumatrade company, Ricardo Alarcón, explained to LA TRUTH. Of the 300 tank trucks that load fuel every day at the Exolum facilities, formerly CLH, almost fifty belong to this company. “The last load we were able to get out was yesterday [por anteayer para el lector] at two in the afternoon, after being held by the pickets for almost six hours. Since then, we cannot work. That is why we are already thinking of moving to Alicante and Valencia to bring fuel to the Region of Murcia and stop the shortage that already affects at least fifteen gas stations », he detailed. Alarcón denounced pressure from the pickets that took place yesterday on the CT-34 highway at the entrance to Escombreras. For this reason, it will not continue with operations from Cartagena “until the safety of drivers is reinforced.”
