Do you remember the huge seizure of a Fiat Topolino at the port of Livorno a few days ago? The presence of a tricolor sticker had led the Financial Police to seize 140 examples of the Turin brand’s electric microcar because they were produced outside national borders. Translated: the tricolor flag was considered “misleading” regarding the origin of the cars. To prevent a scenario like this from happening again with the Fiat 600, Stellantis decided to play early.
Fiat 600 like Mickey Mouse?
The Italian-French group has in fact announced remove the colors of the Italian tricolor present in a graphic element affixed to the rear bumper of the Fiat 600, produced in Poland. This was made known by a spokesperson for the Italian division of Stellantis, speaking of own independent initiative. “Even in this case the presence of the colors of the Italian flag on the vehicle had no other purpose than to indicate the entrepreneurial origin of the product, whose design and style were conceived, designed and engineered by an Italian entity, Stellantis Europe, holder of the brand Fiat”, his words reported by Ansa.
The tricolor flag disappears
Evidently the risk of finding oneself in one similar situation to that of Fiat Topolino was high, which is why Stellantis’ decision not to wait for developments of this type but to act immediately. “The company has always clearly stated, since the launch of the Fiat 600, that the car is assembled in Poland. This also occurred in its communication to the press, which gave ample account of it. The vehicle also bears a label specifying the place of manufacture – concluded the Stellantis Italia spokesperson – Although firmly convinced that it has always acted in this regard with complete correctness, Stellantis Europe intends to reiterate with this initiative its desire to operate in full and absolute transparency regarding the place of assembly of its products and prevent any misunderstanding in this regard“.
