The Tax Agency has asked Don Juan Carlos on several occasions during this year to clarify the expenses of the different hunts he has attended between 2014 -after his abdication- and 2018. The objective of these information requirements is to determine if the King emeritus has had an unjustified increase in wealth after leaving the throne. These questions raised by the Treasury, revealed last night by ‘El Mundo’, have been answered by the legal advisers of Don Juan Carlos. Some amounts, in addition to gifts, that would not amount to more than 120,000 euros, the minimum figure to be considered a tax offense.
A Treasury movement that is known when Don Juan Carlos planned to return to Spain this weekend. A return to Sanxenxo that in the end the father of Felipe VI has decided, and thus has been transferred to his environment, to cancel. It will be maybe in July, but not now.
The reasons, which sources close to Don Juan Carlos describe as “private”, respond to the long conversation that the emeritus and his son had in Zarzuela just before he undertook the return trip to Abu Dhabi after a weekend of exhibition media in Galician lands. The King, in a four-hour private conversation, was clear when transferring to his father “the damage he is causing to the institution.”
