On January 3, the girl began to suffer from a high fever and some discomfort. After hospitalization, the terrible diagnosis came: febrile infection epileptic syndrome (FIRES). It is an acute epileptic encephalopathy which rarely occurs in children and adolescents and which almost always leads to death.
Doctors have done everything possible to save Giusy Cozza’s life, but the terrible disease killed her in less than two months.
The whole community clung to the pain of the family and hoped and prayed for the young woman to succeed win his battle.
Giusy leaves her mother Annamaria, her father Tonino, her brother Francesco and her boyfriend Alessio in agony.
The last goodbye to the 20-year-old was celebrated yesterday February 21 in Sant’Eusebio church in Agrate. Giusy was remembered as a sunny and full of life girl, with many dreams in the drawer. She had studied to become a beautician and had found work in a beauty center.

Febrile Infection Epileptic Syndrome (FIRES) occurs, in rare cases, in children and adolescents previously in good health.
According to studies it occurs in 1 / 100,000 children and adolescents and with an annual incidence of 1 / 1,000,000.
It begins with a fever and other symptoms follow such as sudden onset of seizures and recurrence of focal seizures. The cause is not yet known today, experts believe it is associated with infections or who might have agenetic etiology.
