If you have a Citroën, you have Grip Control, an intelligent anti-skid system that improves traction on the front wheels, ensuring maximum grip on surfaces such as snow, ice or mud.
The ski resorts have already received their first big snowfalls and have opened their slopes, while many towns and fields have already been dyed white, offering a bucolic image, typical of a Christmas postcard. Faced with this perspective, the chances of going out on the perfect photo adventure or snowball battle or finding yourself on a road with snow and ice sheets increase. In this context, the Grip Control system, present in some versions of the Citroën C3 Aircross, Citroën C5 Aircross, Citroën Berlingo and Citroën SpaceTourer,
ensures moments of fun without surprises or shocks.
Grip Control optimizes traction and traction in low grip conditions. This technology acts on the front drive wheels on surfaces such as snow or mud, preventing the vehicle from being trapped. This device is activated through a rotary knob located on the center console. The driver can choose between one of the five modes of use available, Standard, Sand, Mud, Snow and ESP off, which adapt the transfer of engine torque on the front axle and
manage the braking system depending on the terrain.
Specially designed for safe driving in winter or in the high mountains, Snow mode instantly adapts the traction control of each of the two driving wheels to the existing grip conditions. When the car exceeds 50 km / h the system automatically switches to Standard mode.
Standard mode is the one used in normal road conditions,
no adhesion problems. If things get complicated, it is time to activate the SUV mode, which allows you to drive smoothly on slippery terrain such as mud or wet grass. It ensures the vehicle starts under these conditions by transferring the maximum possible torque to the wheel that has the most grip. It works like a limited slip differential. It is perfectly adapted to driving on the slopes and remains active below 80 km / h.
For its part, the Sand mode maintains the sliding of the two driving wheels simultaneously to allow progression on soft ground and limit the risk of being trapped in the sand. This mode works up to 120 km / h and switches to Standard mode if that speed is exceeded. You can also opt for the ESP Off mode, which offers the driver the possibility of completely disconnecting ESP and Grip Control, at speeds of up to 50 km / h, and managing motor skills autonomously.
