The Supreme Court stood up for a Chita resident whose gold cross was damaged by a jeweler
The Supreme Court of Russia stood up for a resident of Chita, whose gold cross and chain were damaged by a jeweler during repairs. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the determination of the board of civil cases.
It is alleged that the jeweler damaged the jewelry due to improper soldering and repair technology. In court, the man demanded that the jeweler compensate him for double the cost of the cross (600 thousand rubles), but the Chita court limited the compensation to 10 thousand rubles.
The Supreme Court did not agree with the conclusions of the Chita court, since when considering the case, the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights, which regulates the responsibility of the contractor for the safety of the item, was not applied. The court sent the case for a new trial.
Earlier in Novosibirsk, a previously convicted jeweler robbed clients of a local chain. The attacker accepted jewelry from the victims for repair and melting, took money for the work, and disappeared along with the jewelry.
