There are only a few days left until the theatrical release of The Suicide Squad – Suicide Mission, coming on August 5th and to be able to arrive prepared and get to know their past well, here is a list of comics to read. Their story begins in the late 1980s, when the first adventures of this strange and particular group of soldiers were published.
Just on the occasion of the release of the film, of which you can also read our preview review at this link, Panini Comics offers three unmissable comics, which can be read both before and after watching the film. Thanks to this selection, it will be possible to enjoy the history of this unlikely group of soldiers to the fullest, also understanding their motivations and origins.
The first volume It is entitled Suicide Squad vol.1: Bad Blood, in which screenwriter Tom Taylor and artist Bruno Redondo reunite some historical characters like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Shark, Cavalier, Magpie and Zebra-Man, to kick off one of the bloodiest missions ever performed. Their goal is to neutralize a group of terrorists known as The Revolutionaries, a mission that will bring losses to both sides.
However, the story does not end here, as the second volume proposed by Panini Comics it is precisely the sequel, entitled Suicide Squad vol. 2: The revolutionaries, in which the group decides to target Ted Kord, the alter ego of the superhero Blue Beetle, who has kept the group in check for months. Too bad, however, that Batman is also on their trail, a truly formidable opponent!
Third and latest comic of this list is Suicide Squad: The Trial by Fire, excellent for being able to deepen the historical origins of the group, starting from the classic adventures. This collection contains within it the first classic stories written by John Ostrander and Luke McDonnell, which led to the creation of the famous Task Force X by Amanda Waller.
There remains therefore than wait for next August 5th to see The Suicide Squad – Suicide Mission at Cinema, a movie full of action, lots of characters and lots of blood, according to the latest trailer released.
