After several updates in between, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is already a reality that has been materialized in various cinemas around the world. Its premiere was preceded by more than one official trailer and exciting posters that made clear the vision of its director in this new adventure of the most beloved villains on the big screen.
Now, Gunn himself revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that his adaptation was going to have a somewhat different approach in the closing sequences; however, they gave him greater freedom throughout the rest of the story. “In reality, there’s a slightly darker ending that changed, but — other than that — everything was exactly the same. It was as provocative as the one that has come to the film ”, he asserted.
Although the filmmaker did not go into details about what his original ending was, he did point out that, outside of that, the film maintains the atmosphere that he had originally thought about. In addition, he recognized the support of the producer is an important contribution when he decides to join a project. “I don’t want to make a movie with a studio where they aren’t enthusiastic about making my movie with me. That would discourage me a lot, “he said.
The Suicide Squad has garnered great critical support, whose approval on Rotten Tomatoes has positioned it as one of the DCEU’s best feature films. In that sense, Gunn has expressed his excitement for the results obtained.
“Yes, I think it feels good. I mean, I think those things feel more like a relief, but honestly what feels better is that I’m very proud of the movie, “he said.
“I really like the movie. I loved the process of making it. I loved the people who surrounded me and for me it is a different way of looking at my career than what I am used to. I am very proud of the process and the film itself. It’s a big difference for me to focus on that rather than focus on what’s out there. So I’m very happy about that, “he concluded.
