The events of the novel revolve around the past ten years and take the reader back to the paths of war and the journey of asylum, as its characters live difficult roles, each character carrying a different refugee story, and tells how to live with other cultures and also shows the impact of the epidemic on human lives. Since ancient times and until today, wars break out to kill everyone without discrimination. The novel carries the idea of peace that we have lost and miss greatly.”
In a statement to “Sky News Arabia”, Lar Ayoub says that Clarinet’s novel is her first attempt in the literary field. It contains 106 pages. It took nearly a year and a half to write, through which it attempts to present the tragedy and take the writer to the place of Syrian immigration and alienation.
She explains that the reason why she wrote this novel, Clarinet, ” stems from her belief that writing is the only means capable of presenting my ideas and conveying my message by broadcasting what my soul believes in in the world of (clarinet) in which multiple and different personalities lived, as I traveled with them on the long journey of asylum, and crossed With them I will go to many countries so that I can eventually reach what binds them despite their differences.”
Ayoub continues: “As for the conflict between reality and the virtual world in my novel, it presides over the reality that we see, which is not very different from the virtual world. Perhaps if I had not lived during the time of war and the epidemic, I would have exaggerated the imagination until I completed the events of my novel, but I lived through both, so I think the novel is more realistic. From being fictional, and all the turns of our lives have become connected to the virtual world, so I think it is a real world rather than a virtual one that conveyed our tragedies throughout the war.”
Regarding the reason for the name Ayoub says, “It was called the clarinet because the clarinet has a role and a message in the novel, not to mention that music always triumphs over wars and the sounds of bullets.”
The writer adds: “The novel narrates the events of a love relationship that develops between refugees of two different religions on the journey to escape from Syria after the war has engulfed its teeth in their homeland, where they face many difficulties, not only in their love, but in other events that confront them due to the scourge of war.”
Its events take place in the past ten years and take the reader back to the paths of war and the journey of asylum between Syria, Iraqi Kurdistan and Europe, showing how much the Syrian citizen has suffered from the war in their lands for a long time, as its characters live difficult roles, each character carries a different refugee story and tells how to live with cultures and other religions, and also shows the impact of the epidemic on human lives.
The message of the novel: We have seen from ancient times until today that wars break out to kill everyone under the pretext of nationalities, religions and sects, and spread racism everywhere. As for the novel, it carries a message to the world, carrying the idea of peace that we have lost and sorely miss.
Lara Ayoub began her writing experience in 2011 by writing a series of short stories under the title “Love in Time of War”, also influenced by the Syrian reality that we have been witnessing for years, and she continues to do so to convey the suffering of Syrians around the world in a literary way to all people.
In the conclusion of her speech, she says: “Writing in wartime is interesting and somewhat difficult, but it looks beautiful when it carries with it more issues and concerns, and conveys them in creative ways to everyone.”
