Trafficking of minors, drowning, kidnapping, among thousands of other options could be explanations for the disappearance of Bruno Gentiletti that morning in 1997, but there is not a single clue that indicates what happened to him.
Bruno was born in Santa Fe, Argentina, on June 18, 1988 and grew up with Gisela, Franco, Martín and Belén, his siblings.
Their parents, Marisa Olguín and Claudio Gentiletti, woke them up early on the morning of March 2, 1997 to tell them that they would go to a river near their house to say goodbye to summer, since the children were about to enter school. They all got into the family car without knowing that from that day on, Bruno would not return home.

Disappearance ‘without a trace’
Once at the river, the family was divided between the two oldest children and their father, the three little ones who wanted to see a trampoline and a slide, and Marisa, who stayed organizing the sandwiches that she would later give to her children.
However, when he called them to eat, only the two youngest children returned. In an interview with the media ‘Infobae’, Marisa remembers asking where Bruno was, because although the brothers warned her that he had stayed on the slide, she did not see him in line despite the fact that there were few people.

Little Gisela and Franco told their mother that they did not see him because he was not on the first slide, which was the closest to where their family rested, but on the next one, which was on the other side of a fence located to divide the public part of the river from the private one, where they were. However, Bruno wasn’t there either.
“There is a lost boy, he is eight years old, medium height, barefoot and shirtless, he has green shorts”, It was the warning that was heard through the speakers of the river, as Marisa remembers.

Searching in the wrong place
All the people who were in the place, although they were few, started looking for Bruno. They headed for the water first, worried that he had drowned.
However, Marisa was clear that this was the last place her son could be. Apparently, Bruno suffered from severe otitis that did not allow him to get into the water without special plugs for his ears.. In addition, when they arrived at the place, Marisa remembers that he told her: “Mommy, what dirty water”, and she preferred to go to the games with her brothers.
“I always knew that looking in the river was looking in the wrong place”, Marisa commented to ‘Infobae’ and continued “I knew that he was not in the water, but nobody was listening to us”.
Even the people who took care of the place told him that it was impossible for Bruno to be outside the fence that closed the site, since minors were not allowed to go out alone. However, the hours passed and Bruno still did not appear, despite the fact that all the people in the river were alert.
lost fundamental time
According to what Marisa remembers, her husband made the complaint at the police station at two in the afternoon, but the police officer did not arrive until half past 10 at night, so for those eight hours there was no official search for Bruno.
In missing child cases, the first few hours are essential for several reasons. Among these is developing road closure systems so that, if it is a case of kidnapping, the person cannot flee with the minor to another city or even another country.
However, none of the procedures was performed. “If someone had taken him, he had time to drive anywhere.”, Marisa commented to ‘Infobae’. Her suspicions point to officials not acting on time because there was an important match in Argentina that day, but this has not been confirmed.

Bruno’s case was strangely full of waiting and delays regarding the legal part of the complaint and the largest search movement was directed by the Argentine Naval Prefecture and the residents of the place where he disappeared, who continued to search on land near the river.
In addition, as Marisa recalls, the investigation also began to link her and her husband as possible suspects in Bruno’s disappearance: “They said that I had lovers, that my brothers were military and there was something strange, that my father’s wife was Paraguayan, so I could have given my son to sell him, who was part of a sect”, remembers the woman.
A month after the disappearance, the parents found out that the complaint in Migrations, which is made to prevent someone from taking him out of the country and the judge of the case should have ordered, never reached the corresponding entity, so the search for his son could now spread to the entire world.
Days, months, years passed and currently, in the year 2022, 25 years after the disappearance, there is no formal clue as to the whereabouts of Bruno Gentiletti.

warning calls
The police station received calls from supposed clairvoyants who even gave exact places where the minor could be found.
Sometime during the search an operation was mounted in an abandoned building due to one of these warnings, but it did not give any results. “It turns out that the judge’s secretary sold the information to the press, a journalist confessed it to me, I couldn’t believe it”, Marisa commented to ‘Infobae’.

A disappearance without results
“The only thing I thought was that Bruno was in shorts and barefoot and the nights were already cold,” recalls the woman who continues to search for her son to this day.
His disappearance is among the 10% of cases of children that Missing Children Argentina has failed to find. However, the struggle of his family does not end.
Currently there is even a reward for anyone who can give information on Bruno’s whereabouts, as well as a website dedicated to his search in which you can find a portrait that purports to show what the young man would look like today at 33 years old.

“I’m still looking for Bruno because I know he didn’t drown, I know he’s alive”, expressed Marisa in the interview with the mentioned medium.
