Salvador Calvo is already filming the first episode of the second season of the new ‘Historias para no dormir’, a chapter entitled ‘El implante’, starring Javier Gutiérrez, Petra Martínez, Carlos Cuevas and Ramón Barea. When he finishes, his third feature film as director awaits him, ‘Valle de sombras’, which he will film in northern India.
‘The Transplant’ is announced as a disturbing fable set in a not-too-distant future where only people without resources grow old and die, and where society has taken its obsession with youth and beauty to such an extreme that life becomes very difficult for those who do not agree to renew their bodies through a series of operations and transplants. The alternative is to belong to the class of the ‘renewed’ or to become a ‘donor’, that is, a supplier of organs for the ‘renewals’. In this context, a mature couple finds themselves in the need to renew their bodies to avoid being fired from their jobs. But they only have enough money for one. They will have to make a decision that will change their lives forever and will put into play everything they have believed in.
As is known, in this new edition of ‘Historias para no dormir’ the most legendary episodes of the unforgettable series by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador are chosen, of which young current directors make reboots or remakes, duly updated. In the first season the first four episodes were directed by Rodrigo Cortés (‘La broma’), Paula Ortiz (‘El asfalto’), Rodrigo Sorogoyen (‘El doble’) and Paco Plaza (‘Freddy’). They have already been seen through Amazon Prime Video and will soon be available through Spanish Television.
In this second season, in addition to Salvador Calvo with ‘El implante’, we will see three other episodes that will be directed by Alice Waddington, who will be in charge of the story titled ‘La pesadilla’, Jaume Balagueró, who will be responsible for ‘El televisor’, and Nacho Vigalondo, who will direct ‘La alarma’.
But this is not the only news from the director of ‘1898. Los último de Filipinas’ or ‘Adú’. Salvador Calvo (who started directing episodes of series such as ‘La duquesa’, ‘Sin tetas no hay paraíso’, ‘Las aventuras del Capitán Alatriste’ or ‘Los Nuestros’), is about to direct a new feature film, ‘Valle de sombras’, an Atresmedia production that will be filmed in the north of India. At the moment, the cast or possible plot of this project has not been revealed.
