The confrontation between former US President Donald Trump and his former ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, will move tomorrow, Tuesday, to the state of Nevada, as part of the race for the Republican Party nomination for the presidential elections that will take place next November.
This week, Republicans in this state have two rare opportunities to choose between the two candidates. The first opportunity is represented by a regular voting process on Tuesday, while the second opportunity takes the form of electoral councils during which the party’s candidate is chosen.
The reason behind this unprecedented situation is that former Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak issued a law in 2021 to organize a primary vote, replacing the traditional party councils that had been organized in this state for years.
In fact, balloting during primaries offers more possibilities for voters to vote, with the option of a mail-in ballot. On the other hand, party (popular) councils organized by the party require the physical presence of voters, holding identity cards in their hands, in a specific place and at a specific time.
Trump is now certain of winning the nomination from the party's voters in this state.
