Chihuahua, Chih.- The State Government has paid 218 million pesos in five years in capital on the six loans that will be refinanced and which represent a debt of 9.7 billion pesos. The Secretary of Finance, José Granillo, stated that the situation would be even more complex if they had not managed to lower the interest rate in a direct negotiation with the banking institutions.
The current conditions of the six loans were established during the previous state administration, which carried out a bidding process in July 2019, but according to Granillo there are good possibilities of improving them in another bidding process.
According to information contained in the call for tenders to refinance the six long-term loans of the State from four banking institutions, all have terms of 20 years and were signed in July 2019.
One of the loans is with HSBC for an amount of 500 million pesos, but as of July 31, 15.5 million pesos had been paid into the capital, meaning the balance is 484.5 million.
Another loan is with Banorte and was contracted in July 2019 for 1,489 million pesos and after five years, this debt is at 1,470.6 million pesos.
BBVA has two outstanding loans with the State Government, one for 1,852 million, which has now dropped to 1,787 million, and another that was for 3,000 million and is now at 2,941 million.
Santander is another bank with which the State has two loans, one for 1.3 billion, for which 26.4 million pesos have been paid to the capital, leaving it at 1.223.6 million, and another for 1.75 billion, and as of July 31 the balance was 1.715.8 million pesos.
