After the closure of a number of stores of imported furniture and clothing manufacturers, Russia will make a number of efforts to strengthen the position of domestic companies. Denis Kravchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, told Lente.ru about the Russian replacement for the outgoing Western companies.
We have been actively implementing an import substitution program in recent years. During this time, we have many good, high-quality manufacturers who have established production. We have quite a lot of furniture factories in the Moscow region, and tailoring has also been established. These lines, I think, will develop
The deputy noted that these producers have a partial dependence on imports, but the state will help overcome it.
According to Kravchenko, the departure of foreign manufacturers is due to a number of factors. This was affected by the disruption of supply chains against the backdrop of limited airspace and container traffic, rate fluctuations, as well as an attempt to psychologically pressure citizens.
The deputy did not rule out that when the situation with the exchange rate and logistics stabilizes, foreign companies will return to Russia, as the doors are always open for conscientious investors and suppliers.
Previously, the IKEA furniture retail chain suspended its work in Russia. H&M and Mango clothing stores closed.
