The Duma proposed shortening the working week not only for mothers, but also for fathers
The working week should be shortened by an hour not only for women with two or more children, but also for fathers. This idea was proposed by the head of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection Nina Ostanina, whose words leads “Reedus.”
She emphasized that such measures should be introduced not only for mothers raising two or more children, but for women with one child.
“Every child needs parental care. Why start counting from two children? (…) I would also include fathers here, especially those who raise children alone. If we are talking about the fact that mother and father have equal responsibilities for raising children, then why not give our men the right to a shortened working week,” the deputy explained.
Earlier, State Duma Deputy Speaker Boris Chernyshev proposed making a shortened working Friday for women. According to his idea, the working day will be shortened by two hours, while the average salary level will remain the same. The deputy proposed introducing the measure as mandatory for the public sector, state and municipal employees, and advisory for private companies.
