Deputy Makarov: The State Duma will consider amendments to change taxes out of turn
The State Duma will consider amendments to change taxes extraordinary, within 30 days. This was stated by Deputy, Head of the Committee on Budget and Taxes Andrei Makarov, quoted by RIA News.
According to the parliamentarian, the package submitted for discussion consists of five bills: amendments to the budget law for 2024, changes to the Budget Code, a law on annual payments to working parents, a law on military pensions and changes to the tax system.
“Before considering the bills in the first reading, we expect to hold special meetings with experts, expert councils to discuss issues in which direction it is necessary to adjust, if there is a need to adjust, the laws, and how it would be advisable to supplement them,” Makarov promised.
The government approved proposals made by the Ministry of Finance to improve the country’s tax system on May 30. Russians with an income of 2.4 million rubles per year will be subject to higher personal income tax rates – 15 percent for earnings up to 5 million rubles, 18 percent for incomes up to 20 million, 20 percent for those earning up to 50 million and 22 percent for those earning more 50 million per year.
According to a preliminary estimate by the Ministry of Finance, the federal treasury will receive 2.6 trillion rubles as a result of these changes in 2025. Of this amount, 1.6 trillion rubles will come from increasing the income tax to 25 percent. Another 533 billion rubles will be available due to the expansion of the personal income tax progression, taking into account all deductions.
