Member of the State Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Issues of Public and Religious Associations Maxim Ivanov appreciated the draft law developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on the abolition of temporary residence permits in the country. In an interview with Lente.ru, the politician said that the changes would reduce the risk “that a person with bad intentions will come to our country.”
“A reasonable decision in the spirit of global practice. The changes will create conditions under which it will be more difficult for foreigners to go into the shadows. In particular, thanks to the maintenance of a register of unscrupulous invitees and the legal possibility to change the purpose of stay without leaving Russia. This will increase the mobility and openness of foreigners within the country, ”Ivanov said.
According to him, this bill is important, since the migration flow to Russia from outside will only grow.
“This will happen as a result of inbound tourism, including medical tourism, where foreigners can get themselves a Russian vaccine against coronavirus, and due to a shortage of workers on the most important infrastructure projects, in particular, on the expansion of BAM. At the same time, one should always remember about the foreign policy of a number of states that is not always friendly towards Russia. The changes will reduce the risk that a person with bad intentions will come to our country, ”the politician said.
Earlier it was reported that migrants staying in Russia will be required to receive a single document with an electronic carrier, which will serve as an identity card within the country. The document will be valid for ten years, then it will need to be replaced. In addition, it will be necessary to replace it in the event of a change of surname, name, patronymic, date of birth, gender in case of loss of citizenship.
