For motorists in Russia, they decided to introduce fines for exceeding the permitted speed by just one kilometer per hour. This initiative was made by a member of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction Alexander Vasiliev, according to the agency “Moscow”.
The MP believes that the search for reckless drivers at the wheel will increase the culture in society. He noted that even those who exceed the speed limit become a traffic offender.
“He was given a license to drive according to the rules. If he had done this in the presence of a traffic police officer, he would never have received a license, “said Vasiliev.
He noted that most often road accidents occur precisely because of non-observance of the speed limit, and people die through the fault of the violators. In his opinion, the abolition of the threshold of 20 kilometers per hour should make the roads safer.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev opposed the idea of lowering the unpunished speed limit.
According to the current legislation, for exceeding the permitted speed by 20-40 kilometers per hour, a fine of 500 rubles is imposed.
