With its statements about its readiness to negotiate with Russia on the migration crisis, Poland is trying to drag Moscow into this situation as a party to the conflict. Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, told Izvestia on Tuesday, November 23, about this.
“They just want to drag us into the problem again as a side, but we are not a party to the conflict. Therefore, they may not even dream about it. The story with migrants is simple: Poles don’t want to talk to [президентом Белоруссии Александром] Lukashenka, he is, as they say, “the last dictator of Europe,” so they want to talk to us. Let them talk about their problems with the European Union, ”he said.
Earlier that day, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said that Warsaw is open to negotiations with Moscow regarding the migration crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border.
At the same time, the minister stressed that Poland is open to negotiations with the current authorities of Belarus, but only on technical issues. In addition, Rau called the Russian Federation “the director” of the current migration crisis, and Belarus, according to him, is the executor.
On the eve, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called the statements about the benefits of Russia from the migration crisis a fantasy of Western politicians. She noted that these statements are not supported by any facts.
In addition, Zakharova pointed out that the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border has become “an illustrative example of an information war.” According to her, 3,000 Iraqis allegedly became a threat to the existence of the European Union. However, Italy allows more people to pass in a few days.
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that the accusations of Russia’s involvement in the situation on the border of Poland and Belarus are “an attempt to shift problems from a sore head to a healthy one.” He also called on countries to deal with their own internal problems, and not pass on their own issues to others.
The situation with migrants on the border between Poland and Belarus escalated in early November. A large group of refugees in Belarus came to the border in a forest belt. Migrants cut barbed wire at the border of the two countries and asked to be allowed into the territory of the European Union. In Poland, they announced a tough attack on the border for the first time in 30 years. European countries blame Minsk for the migration crisis, which denies any involvement in the increase in the flow of refugees.
At the moment, the refugees left the tent camps at the border and went to the logistics center, which was provided by the Belarusian side.
