Unequivocal signs. Something very bad must be happening inside the National Fisheries Commission, that not even the most elementary information flows to the sectors. Until yesterday, the agency in charge of Octavio Alberto Almada Palafox had not yet announced the date for the start of shrimp fishing. For just over two weeks, the sectors have been waiting for the instructions of the federal agency. The leader of the Union of Shipowners of the Pacific Coast, Jesús Omar Lizárraga, hoped that by today, March 20, it would already be a closed season on the high seas. Already yesterday he warned that the end of the capture season would begin on March 24. The same uncertainty has been experienced among state officials. The Secretary of Fisheries in the state, Flor Emilia Guerra Mena, explained at the end of February that the date for the start of fishing would already be defined by March 1. In as much, the industrial and social sector of the fishing is almost paralyzed due to the scarcity of product. Fishing leaders have described the season as regular.
Reasons enough. The TIF Trail Administration in Mazatlan has declared itself in the red. The workload is minimal and the numbers are not giving enough to cover operating expenses. The enclosure performs the slaughter of 30 head of cattle and the capacity is for 120. It is not difficult to explain the reasons, taking into account the closure of two clandestine slaughterhouses reported on Thursday by the City Council. What is objectionable is that the same municipal authorities admitted that the clandestine slaughter sites had been operating for more than five years. They would also have to explain the type of sanctions that were applied to those responsible and to the producers who took their cattle to those places, because if they are as lax as the inspection, you can swear that they will reappear in a week.
Crime at large. It seems like a minor problem in the city, but the theft of sewer covers has become so widespread in Mazatlan that thieves have practically swept away this type of urban equipment. Open sewers are found from the first square of the city, even in peripheral areas, with everything and the danger they represent for the safety of drivers and passers-by, especially children. The worst thing is that not a single one of those thieves has ever been arrested, much less the fate of the covers is investigated. There is an apparent indifference on the part of the security corporations. But what can you expect, when thieves steal plaques from monuments and even saw them with impunity on Mazatlan’s coastal promenade? You just have to see how the monuments are, before tourist attractions in Olas Altas. Wow, even the horns have been stolen from El Venadito, in front of the UAS Multiple Use Unit, where there is supposed to be a lot of surveillance with patrols and video cameras.
Tourist cage. The spirit that national families have to enjoy Mazatlan is noticeable. Yesterday, during the long weekend, the city was full of visitors. The bad thing is that they seem to have forgotten the preventive protocols of Covid-19. An error warned by the health authorities.
