The state commission at the Baikonur cosmodrome has approved the launch of the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket, which is supposed to launch the Progress MS-18 cargo vehicle into orbit. About it it says in the message spread by the press service of “Roscosmos”.
“The commission made a decision to refuel the carrier rocket with propellants and launch at 03:00:32 Moscow time on October 28, 2021,” the document says.
The rocket is decorated with Khokhloma patterns as part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod in 2021. Patterned stickers are affixed to the side blocks of the first stage and third stage. In addition, a sticker with congratulations in honor of Nizhny Novgorod is placed on the second step. Also on the rocket there is a sticker “180 years of Sberbank”.
This space launch will be 18 for Roscosmos in 2021. Separation of the spacecraft from the third stage of the rocket and entry into low-earth orbit is scheduled 529 seconds after launch.
Earlier it became known that the social network Facebook blocked the post of the Russian journalist and founder of the Open Space community Vitaly Yegorov with the word “khokhloma”. He noted that in the publication he spoke about how Roskosmos, in honor of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod, painted the Soyuz rocket in the style of the folk craft – Khokhloma. Facebook considered the word a hate speech and an insult, threatening additional restrictions.
