Emilio Ballack, son of German soccer player Michael Ballack, has died this Thursday at the age of 18, as reported the newspaper Bild, after having suffered a quad accident in the early morning in the Vilas do Mar urbanization, on the Tróia peninsula, in Portugal. After carrying out resuscitation maneuvers, the doctors confirmed the death at the scene, which happened, as published by several Portuguese newspapers such as Correio da Manhã Y Newspaper, after a mistake by the young man while driving the vehicle and “inside the garden” of a house
It was the young man’s grandmother who, according to Portuguese newspapers, notified the emergency services around two in the morning. The Grândola firefighters also traveled to the scene, as well as an emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle – VMER in Portuguese – from the Alentejo coastal area, the region to which the area where the events occurred belongs. In addition, two patrols of the Republican National Guard (GNR) and a team of psychologists were mobilized to help the family. The body has been transferred to the National Institute of Legal Medicine of Santiago do Cacém.
Emilio was one of the three children the forward had with his ex-wife Simone Lambe, along with Louis, 19, and Jordi, 16. Retired from professional football, Ballack wore the German national team jersey 98 times and played , among other teams, at Bayern Munich and Chelsea. The English club has expressed its condolences through a message posted on Twitter: “Everyone at Chelsea Fútbol Club is shocked and saddened to learn of Emilio Ballack’s death at the young age of 18. All our thoughts are with his father Michael and his family in these sad times. “
