'The Snow Society'is the new movie Netflix which premiered on January 4 and in a few days managed to position itself in the number one position of the most viewed on the platform. The film tells details about the crash of a Uruguayan plane in 1972 and how out of 45 passengers, only 16 survived and had to learn to live in the place for 72 days.
However, after 51 years since the catastrophe, the area has gone through various changes due to climate change. You will be surprised to see how it looks today.

What did the Valley of Tears look like in 1972?
The area, located at 3,600 m asl on the border between Argentina and Chile, is called the Valley of Tears and in 1972 it was known as an immense glacier, so the plane fell in an area full of snow and ice. This made survival of the passengers who had endured the fall almost impossible.
As is known, many of them had to resort to eating human flesh from the deceased passengers in order to survive for 72 days in extreme conditions.
What does the Valley of Tears look like today?
Today, the place has changed drastically due to global warming, and thanks to the photos taken by the constant expeditions it can be seen that the area no longer has snow or ice. Quite the contrary, you see a field full of dust and stones.
A very particular detail is that a small monument has been made with plaques, stones, remains of the plane and a cross in memory of the passengers who lost their lives due to the plane crash.
