The DJ Álex Bot, Cadena Cien announcer Sergio Blázquez, Valdi and Dreamteam will perform, with the legendary Toni Peret, José María Castells and Quique Tejada
On August 6, the Paco Martín Auditorium of Parque Torres will host the sixth edition of the Weekend DJ Fest Cartagena, one of the largest free electronic music festivals in the Region of Murcia, which was born in 2015 and has been held uninterruptedly , until the pandemic broke out. Last year it could not be carried out, but in this edition it comes with force.
This was announced by the Councilor for Culture and Youth, David Martínez Noguera, during the presentation of the event, which took place in the Patio de Armas of the Old CIM, and which had the participation of the Rector of the UPCT, Beatriz Miguel ; the president of the Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz; the presidents of the employers’ association COEC and Hostecar, Ana Correa and Juan José López, respectively, and the president of AMEP, Nuria Castillo.
Faced with the fifth current pandemic wave, “being on your feet is already a success and today we must celebrate that the Weekend DJ Festival returns to Cartagena in August,” said David Martínez when announcing the celebration of the event on August 6, as reported sources from the Cartagena City Council in a statement.
Martínez has confirmed that this year it has been necessary to look for scenarios that allow better control and security to be able to follow the rules imposed by the pandemic, “but we will return to the port, which is the natural setting for this musical event. In any case, the Paco Martín auditorium, the scene of great festivals, is not a bad alternative, where this year it’s time to set up the mixing tables there and enjoy the creativity and ingenuity of the best DJs ».
The best DJs and stars of the country’s musical radio have passed through this Festival, such as Tony Aguilar, Albert Neve, Abel Ramos, Toni Peret, Valdi, Carlos Jean, Taao Kross or Shake Coconut, as well as young local and national promises such as Álex Bot, Julgo, Manema, Dani Cros or Javi Ponce. And this edition will not be less.
This year the Weekend is being held, for the first time, at the Paco Martín Auditorium in Parque Torres, and will perform the Cartagena DJ Álex Bot, the renowned presenter of Cadena Cien Sergio Blázquez, Valdi, the DJ of El Hormiguero of Antena 3 and author of success, and finally, there will be Dreamteam, formed by the mythical Toni Peret, José María Castells and Quique Tejada, creators of the Max Mix and who have been triumphing in Ibiza for years with their show ‘The Children Of the 80’s’, in addition to the tour ‘I also went to EGB.’
The Dreamteam offers a first level show of music, fundamentally from the 80s, in which they combine their mixes with videos and an incredible light and sound show. In addition, in this edition, the winners of the UrbanCTFest program, organized by the Youth Council, have the prize of performing at the Weekend.
Due to the health situation, all the necessary measures have been adopted to make the event safe, with reduced capacity, distances and access control by invitation. In fact, access will only take place between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
The Weekend DJ Fest Cartagena can be celebrated thanks to the support of the City Council, the Port and the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts (ICA) of the CARM, in addition to other private sector collaborators, and to be able to carry it out it has been established the suspension of the acoustic quality objectives for the event, whose public exposure has now ended.
