Writer Sophie Kinsella's announcement: “I have brain cancer”
Sophie Kinsella, the British writer known for the successful saga I love shopping she has brain cancer: she announced it herself on social media in a post in which she recounted her battle with the disease.
The author has in fact written about hers profile Instagram: “At the end of 2022 I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. I didn't say it before because I wanted to give my children time to digest the news and get used to the new normality.”
“I am being treated by an excellent team of doctors at University College Hospital in London. I was operated on and had radiotherapy and chemotherapy which is still ongoing.”
Sophie Kinsella then added that at the moment everything is fine apart from some memory problems and a little tiredness: “I thank my family and close friends for the great support they are giving me. And I also thank my readers.”
The writer concluded by sending a hug to all those who, like her, are fighting the disease: “You can feel very scared and alone and the support of those close to you can mean more than many words.”
