The Emirates Foundation – which oversees the administration of the “Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Scholarship for Higher Education” program – announced yesterday the names of the students benefiting from the scholarship for this year.
Five students won a scholarship in 2021, and they are:
Maryam Abdullah Al-Maamari – MA in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University.
Maryam Omar bin Haider – Master of Science in Public Health (Mental Health) from Kings College – London in the United Kingdom.
Alia Sultan Al Ghafli – MA in Furniture Design from Milan Polytechnic University, Italy.
Iman Abdullah Al-Masabi – MA in Environment: The Dynamics of Regions and Societies from Sorbonne Abu Dhabi.
Nora Muhammad Al-Hashemi – MA in Clinical Psychology from the United Arab Emirates University.
The scholarship aims to enable Emirati students to complete their studies in fields that meet the strategic needs of the UAE, and the program provides the opportunity to obtain a master’s or doctorate degree in the disciplines of education and social studies, museum studies, tourism, health care and public administration, environment and engineering, engineering and nuclear management, Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Ahmed Taleb Al Shamsi, CEO of the Emirates Foundation, said that this program reflects the wise leadership’s keenness to support Emirati students and prepare them to face the challenges of the twenty-first century, pointing out that the program is one of the first educational scholarship programs that focused specifically on encouraging students to complete their higher studies. In areas that contribute to achieving sustainable economic development for the United Arab Emirates.
He added that the list of recipients of this year’s scholarship includes a group of outstanding Emirati students, noting the Foundation’s keenness to support them to advance their academic studies to the highest levels.
For his part, Dr. Naji Wakim – Acting Deputy Director of Zayed University said that the “Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Higher Education Scholarship” allocated to Zayed University graduates represents an important opportunity for graduates wishing to complete their postgraduate studies in various academic disciplines in the most prestigious local and international universities, which will be reflected positively. They are based on their skills and provide them with new competencies that support their scientific and professional careers in the future. This grant also aims to support the wise leadership of young people by investing in young talent and providing the national economy with the necessary cadres.
The total number of students benefiting from the “Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Higher Education Scholarship”, which spanned over a decade, totaled 78 graduates from Zayed University .. In addition to the five accepted students in this batch, 58 students enrolled in the master’s program, while 15 students enrolled in the doctoral program. Those who have completed their postgraduate studies in the most prestigious local and international universities.
