The fiction of Amazon Studios, one of the most expensive in history, will be released on September 2, 2022
There is already a date: the series of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ that Amazon Studios is preparing will premiere on Friday, September 2, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video. The fiction, which will simultaneously reach more than 240 countries, has just finished filming its first season under the command of JA Bayona, who has moved to New Zealand to capture all the richness of the ring universe, as already did Peter Jackson with his excellent film trilogy.
This epic new drama tells for the first time on screen the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth history by JRR Tolkien. The series, still untitled, begins in a moment of relative peace, thousands of years before the events narrated in ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’, and follows a cast of characters, known and new, to as they face the feared revival of evil in Middle-earth.
Heading this ensemble cast are Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin , Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
An ensemble series led by showrunners and executive producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay; Joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, JA Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond and Sharon Tal Yguado, as well as Wayne Che Yip as co-executive producer, and producer Christopher Newman.
