The introduction of compulsory vaccination will help to cope with the emergence of more dangerous strains of coronavirus in Russia. This opinion was expressed on November 7 by Peter Chumakov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Cell Proliferation Laboratory at the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology.
Chumakov believes that those who have been vaccinated will then be grateful.

The scientist added that under current conditions it is necessary that the level of herd immunity in the country reaches 80%.
“And if it continues like this – there will be another (strain),“ epsilon ”, for example, some kind, then it is possible that 90% will need to be (vaccinated), you know, without exception,” Chumakov added.
Earlier, on October 27, the trade offered to make vaccination against coronavirus for citizens virtually mandatory and at the same time free of charge even in private clinics. This was stated in a joint letter from the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT) and the Association of Internet Trading Companies (AKIT) to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko.
On October 26, immunologist Irina Yartseva on Tuesday commented to Izvestia on the introduction of mandatory vaccination against coronavirus for certain categories of citizens in all regions of Russia. She noted that large-scale vaccination of the population interferes with the massive increase in morbidity, relieves the burden on health care. Moreover, in addition to vaccination, it is necessary to constantly revaccinate in order to minimize the transmission of the virus.
The doctor emphasized that it is often impossible to motivate citizens of a country to vaccinate in any other way than by such measures as compulsory vaccination of certain categories.
On October 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that compulsory vaccination is possible only when it is included in the national calendar. At the same time, he noted that in Russia vaccination against coronavirus is not included in the national calendar, which means that it is not mandatory.
A large-scale vaccination has been taking place in Russia since January. Citizens are vaccinated free of charge and voluntarily. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
