The respondents admitted that most often they do not go to work because of a visit to the doctor – this turned out to be 39 percent. Another 27 percent of Russians skipped work because of their parenting responsibilities. Almost every fifth (19 percent) takes time off because of poor health, and almost every tenth (nine percent) – because of waiting for the master at home or delivery.
According to the study, one third of respondents have a fictional reason for skipping work. Only five percent of employees lie about another third of the reasons. One percent of Russians tell lies about half of the reasons they don’t go to work.
Three quarters of Russians – 76 percent – said they never lied about how they felt to stay home. Another 22 percent admitted that they had told the authorities a lie about this, and two percent faked a sick leave for this purpose.
The survey was conducted in September 2020. It was attended by 4600 respondents over 18 years old from all districts of Russia.
Another study found the proportion of Russians who are capable of lying to advance their careers. These turned out to be 31 percent of the total number of respondents.
