The Central Bank of Russia introduced a new banknote of 100 rubles, put into circulation on June 30
The Bank of Russia showed a new banknote with a face value of 100 rubles. The banknote is put into circulation from June 30, announced on the website of the Central Bank (CB).
“The 100-ruble banknote being issued is dedicated to Moscow and the Central Federal District. The main image of the front side is a fragment of the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin with chimes. On the reverse side is the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier,” the Central Bank said.
In paper banknotes implemented protective fibers of two types: colored with alternating sections of red and blue colors and gray fibers.
Banknotes will be put into circulation gradually, while the existing hundred-ruble banknotes of the 1997 model, including modifications of 2001 and 2004, will continue to be used.
The presentation was announced back in January. Then the deputy chairman of the Central Bank, Mikhail Alekseev, said that the “significant” event should take place within a few months or weeks. Later release dates were shifted.
