The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) issued a statement on the case of a positive doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. It leads RIA News.
The ROC said that the positive doping test of the athlete was not taken during the Beijing Olympics, which means that the results of the team tournament are not subject to automatic review. The organization emphasized that they would fight to keep the gold of the 2022 Olympics.

In addition, the ROC added that Valieva’s doping test, taken after the European Championships in January 2022, as well as her sample taken during the Beijing Olympics, gave a negative result. It is noted that an investigation into the incident will be carried out.
Earlier on February 11, it became known that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to lift the temporary suspension from the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing Valieva. The reason was the positive result of the athlete on trimetazidine, found in the sample dated December 25. Her case will be considered by a special commission before the start of the individual tournament at the Games.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In this regard, the IOC has postponed the award ceremony of the Olympic team tournament.
