Ambassador Meshkov said that France does not take a global part in the events in Ukraine
Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexei Meshkov said that France should not be expected to participate globally in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He spoke about this in an interview. RIA News.
The fact is that, according to the ambassador, the “main player” is not in Europe, but overseas. “Therefore, European countries cannot play any decisive role in a possible settlement process,” the diplomat stressed.
Also, the interlocutor of the publication mentioned that Germany and France did nothing to implement the Minsk agreements. At the same time, as Meshkov noted, one of the elements of the dialogue between Moscow and Paris are certain topics related to the ongoing events in Ukraine. Therefore, at the present time, it is better to count on France’s involvement in resolving specific issues related to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the export of grain.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine would be obliged to start negotiations with Russia in the future. He stressed that it would be in the interests of both sides.
