The launch trailer for The Rogue Prince of Persia celebrates the debut of the Ubisoft game on Steam in early access, and it does so in this case too with a series of animated sequences with a truly peculiar style, alternating with exciting moments of gameplay.
In the video the developers of Evil Empire, already authors of the famous Dead Cellsreiterate the roguelike nature of this action platform experience, showing the protagonist of the adventure who reaches a certain point in the level but dies and then is reborn, starting again from the beginning.
It is a formula that the French studio has now learned to master, thanks precisely to the work on Dead Cells, and which in this case gives it to the Prince of Persia brand a decidedly different connotation than usualdespite being based on foundations very close to the origins of the saga.
We tried it!
As you probably know, we tried The Rogue Prince of Persia and were struck by the similarities but also by the differences compared to the aforementioned Dead Cells, by the particular but spot-on graphic style, as well as by the solidity of a system that already expresses itself very well.
It’s surprising that Ubisoft wanted it focus again on this intellectual property a short distance from the last time (see also the review of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown), but given the results it would have been a shame not to try.
At this point all that remains is to observe the path in which The Rogue Prince of Persia will become the protagonist on Steam, taking advantage of the Early access benefits to improve and enrich the experience between now and the final version launch.
