The 54 Princess Trophy Sofia Mallorca by Fergus opens the Sailing Grand Slam 2025
Palma Bay is prepared for another year to live the largest Olympic candle regatta in the world, the Princess Sofia Mallorca Trophy By Fergus. It is the most numerous with about 800 participating ships from 55 countries and where quality is maximum in which Olympic, world and continental medalists are present.
The Sofia is the first great global regatta that opens the Olympic cycle and that will culminate the summer of 2028 in Los Angeles. It will also open the novel Sailing Grand Slam 2025 that form five major events such as the Princess Sofía By Fergus trophy, the Olympique Française Semaine, the Kieler Woche, the Long Beach Olympic Classses Regatta and the Dutch Water Week.
All Olympic classes
The 54 Princess Trophy Sofia Mallorca By Fergus will be attended by all Olympic classes, with a special approach in the four male categories, which stand out for their large number of registered. The Ilca 7 fleet will reach 175 units, while up to 113 tables, 93 crews in 49er and 63 RIDERS in Male Kite formula will be recorded in the IQFOIL class IQFOIL.
Four of the ten disciplines are female, four male and two mixed crew. It emphasizes that of the total of the 860 registered, 345 are women, which represents 40.1 % of the total participants.
The cruises have been the ones who have uploaded the curtain at the Royal Yacht Club of Palma, opening the competition from March 28 to 30. They have a total of 57 vessels distributed between the ORC, ORC A2, Dragon, 6 meters Open and Cape 31 classes.
With regard to the Olympic classes, the competition will begin on Monday, March 31 and will end on Saturday, April 5.

Sailing Energy
The event is co -organized by the Club Nàutic S’arenal, the San Antonio de la Playa Maritime Club, the Royal Yacht Club of Palma, the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela and the Balearic Federation of Vela, with the support of World Sailing, and is co -financed with the fund of the Sustainable Tourism Tax of the Government of the Balearic Islands.
Santi Lange, first ambassador
In this edition of the Princess Trophy Sofia Mallorca By Fergus the figure of the ambassador has also been created. The organization has chosen the Argentine Santi Lange, who won the Olympic gold in Rio 2016 with 55 years and a year after having operated a lung cancer. Lange is also a historic Sofia, after winning the absolute trophy twice, in 1986 and 1987.
