The youth team returned, after participating in the Asian Paralympic Games in Bahrain, and the UAE won 12 Asian medals, 4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze.
The delegation was received by Khaled Issa Al Midfa, Assistant Secretary-General of the General Sports Authority, Mohamed Fadel Al Hamli, Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee, and Thiban Salem Al Muhairi, Secretary General.
Khalid Al Midfa congratulated the wise leadership for reaping the fruits of the great support for these young people of determination, who were a source of happiness and pride.
He said: We are used to this achievement, and they have all thanks and appreciation to all the workers in the Paralympic Committee sector, expressing his pride in the achievement of winning many colorful medals at the youth level, hoping that it will continue and continue to raise the flag of the state in all forums.
Mohamed Fadel Al-Hamli, head of the Paralympic Committee, stressed that this achievement did not come out of nowhere, but is the result of planning and continuous work stemming from the participation of many parties, partners in achievement, from clubs and centers, in addition to the families of these young champions.
Al Hamli said that thanks to the great support of the wise leadership, Paralympic sports have become one of the main sports in the UAE, which always wins championships and medals in all its participations.
He added that the importance of participating in the tournament is to prepare the youth for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and other major tournaments, which will allow us to build a balance of players whose participation in the upcoming forums will be an honor for the UAE.
He concluded his speech by thanking our wise leadership, as well as all those who contributed to preparing and supporting these young people from clubs and parents, in addition to the supporters of the National Paralympic Committee, especially the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Borealis and Mubadala Company.
Tariq Al-Suwaie, Technical Adviser to the Paralympic Committee, indicated that our participation in the Asian Youth Paralympic Games is unprecedented, in terms of the number and quality of participating players, whether male or female, or different classifications and categories of people of sporting determination, as well as the different sports in which our champions participated.
He said: The participation of our team came, in light of the presence of more than 750 players from many Asian countries and at a high level, as evidenced by the participation of most of them in “Tokyo 2020”.
Al-Suwaiei explained that the Emirati investment in the young elements gives a clear message that the priority is for the youth, especially the young female component, given that the upcoming Paris Games allocate medals at a rate of 50 percent for males and the same for females, and on the initiative of the National Paralympic Committee, we started preparing for Paris 2024 with these young teams, Which started the journey by participating in the Asian Paralympic Games in Bahrain.
