The restoration of cultural heritage objects in Nizhny Novgorod for the 800th anniversary of the city cost 23.5 billion rubles – the final figure was announced to Izvestia in the regional government. They noted that the most expensive object was the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin: its restoration is estimated at $ 3.7 billion.
At the same time, the initial budget for the 800th anniversary of the city was less than 1 billion rubles, said the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin.
“A noticeable part of 23.5 billion is extra-budgetary funds that have been attracted from various sources. These are large companies, and the list is very long. Many thanks to them, ”he said.
According to the regional Cabinet of Ministers, more than 60 objects have been restored in the city for the anniversary and 14 public areas have been equipped. Such major tasks as the improvement of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the reconstruction of the Chkalovskaya Staircase, which opened in early August with a performance by the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra, as well as the construction of a traffic interchange on Tsiolkovsky Street in the Sormovsky District, have been completed. Other global projects include the construction of a funicular, the restoration of Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, Maxim Gorky Square, Nizhne-Volzhskaya Embankment, Alexandrovsky Garden and Switzerland Park.
The regional government noted that after the anniversary, restoration work will continue. In addition to the already commissioned 60 cultural heritage sites, about 30 more will be completed by the end of the year.
