He neighborhood of San Román de Santander use the urban art to claim the identity of your locality. He does it through workshops, meetings and activities to collect information, exchange memories and transmit knowledge which will later be used to carry out artistic interventions
The group uses art to highlight the surroundings of three educational centers: Manuel Cacicedo and Verdemar schools and the IES La Albericiaspaces that concentrate a large part of the social life of the neighborhood. These actions, as noted by the FSC, are included in the project ‘San Román Meeting Place’driven by the San Román in Action association and recognized in the call for general subsidies from the Santander Creativa Foundation (FSC)in the Cultura Emprende line designed for unpublished proposals.
PARTICIPATORY PROCESS TO ADDRESS THE MOST REPRESENTATIVE ELEMENTS OF SAN ROMÁN
For this reason, a participatory process which implies the conducting workshops with students of the respective centers and various groups of adults in which they explore and address the most representative elements of San Román. In addition, artists and cultural professionals participate in the activities, which will continue these months, to accompany and guide the neighbors throughout the entire process.
In this way, the program is configured as a psocial and participatory process where young and old, “representatives of the past and future” of the town, exchange memories, wishes and knowledge on the shared space to express it creatively, without forgetting the social and territorial transformation that the environment has undergone.
