This initiative allows to cover 50% of the cost of accommodation in the breaks that are contracted through the travel agencies adhered to the program, with a maximum of 250 euros per user
While a new strategic plan is being drawn up to relaunch the tourism sector in the Region of Murcia, and with the aim of reducing seasonality, the Governing Council has approved an expenditure of 500,000 euros this Thursday, through the Tourism Institute (Itrem), to extend the Murcia Region tourist voucher until May 31, as announced by LA VERDAD.
The first objective is to encourage the demand for tourist services and stimulate trips to the Community, said the spokesperson for Valle Miguélez during the press conference to give an account of the first ordinary Government Council after the Christmas hiatus, with few issues to discuss on the sidelines of the incidence of Covid.
Miguélez pointed out that this initiative will help defray 50% of the cost of accommodation in tourist packages and getaways to the Region that are carried out until May 31 and that are hired through the travel agencies adhered to the program, with a maximum of 250 euros per user.
«The objective is to promote overnight trips in the Region and to favor both tourist consumption and agency activity, contributing to the economic reactivation of this sector. Thus, these grants are established as an ideal instrument to promote knowledge of the Murcia Region and its tourist attractions, in addition to contributing to the seasonal adjustment of tourist demand, “he said.
This tourist voucher can be enjoyed by all people residing in Spain, including the Community of Murcia, who hire a minimum of two consecutive nights of accommodation in one or more establishments in the Region through the travel agencies that are part of the program. be hotels, tourist apartments, campsites, rural houses, rural inns, hostels or houses for tourist use.
The voucher constitutes a tool to contribute to the survival and incentivize the maintenance of the activity of the tourist companies in the Region of Murcia, while the economy recovers and all the adverse effects of the pandemic in the sector are overcome.
The first phase of the tourist voucher was launched from November 11 to December 17, 2021. Three out of every four users came from outside the Region. In total, thanks to the tourist voucher, tourists from 24 provinces throughout Spain were attracted for stays of two or more nights. Four out of every five overnight stays (82%) were in hotels, and the rest in tourist apartments, inns, campsites and rural accommodation, the regional government reported.
Regarding the tourism fair to be held next week at the Ifema site in Madrid, Miguélez has indicated that the Region “will exhibit all its attractions despite the challenges of the pandemic.” He stressed that “security is guaranteed” for tourists who come to the region.
