The measure also benefits ranchers and fishermen, with estimated savings for all benefited sectors of 2.9 million
The regional government approved this Thursday to extend until the end of the year the exemption of regional taxes to farmers, ranchers, transporters and fishermen, a measure that came into force last April within a package of initiatives to face the impact of the war of Ukraine. The suspension of these rates has meant savings of 900,000 euros for these sectors, and by the end of the year the figure will have risen to 2.9 million euros, according to data provided by the Executive. The Governing Council also approved this Friday to definitively eliminate the General Fee for the provision of optional services and activities, which applies to “provision of optional or technical works of layout, direction, inspection and liquidation of works carried out by contract, as well as such as management and inspection work for technical assistance contracts whose purpose is the preparation of studies, plans, projects, reports and reports of a technical, economic and social nature”.
The Minister of Business and spokesperson for the regional government, Valle Miguélez, also announced the opening of a new aid line, endowed with 600,000 euros, aimed at companies affected by the war in Ukraine. Companies that need liquidity, at no financial cost, to collect supplies of raw materials and to search for alternative markets will be eligible for aid of up to 10,000 euros. Miguélez stressed that “the regional government continues to approve measures to minimize the impact of the war on economic recovery.”
Emergencies and Civil Protection Law
The Governing Council also approved this Friday the draft Law on Emergencies and Civil Protection of the Region of Murcia, a text that aims to “adapt” the regional regulations to the framework of national legislation, explained the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, Environment and Emergencies, Antonio Luengo. The new norm does not introduce major novelties with respect to the current situation, but it will allow for “a cohesive text” to gain “efficiency” in responses to emergencies, Luengo pointed out. Among other aspects, it regulates the composition, organization and operation of the Emergency and Civil Protection Council of the Region of Murcia, as well as the figure of the Civil Protection volunteer and the minimum training required for surveillance and rescue on beaches and rivers.
In terms of the environment, the Governing Council approved the contracting of the cleaning and maintenance service for green areas for public use and the defense network for the natural environment for 7.9 million, between 2022 and 2027. In total, about 173,000 hectares of mountains, protected spaces and areas of public use.
