López Miras presents today the program, which foresees the tender next month for the new health centers of Abanilla, Corvera and the Peral neighborhood of Cartagena
The expansion and improvement of Primary Care infrastructure is the objective of an investment plan that the President of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, plans to present today at the San Esteban Palace. The autonomous government intends with this plan, which will be carried out between 2022 and 2026, to strengthen one of the areas of health care that is most in need, according to all the experts.
Among the first measures included in the plan are, according to the information available to LA VERDAD, the approval of the expense and the tender during the next month of three new health centers in Abanilla, the Murcian district of Corvera and the Peral neighborhood of Cartagena .
The Community will take advantage of the implementation of this investment program to move forward with previously planned projects that have been postponed for economic or technical reasons. This is the case of the Corvera health center, which was already announced a year ago. The total investment, including the equipment, will be around five million euros and it will have an area for paediatrics, family medicine, social work, a women’s unit, an adult unit, an emergency room and a double circuit for possible patients with infectious diseases.
The Executive follows in the footsteps of other regions governed by the PP, such as Madrid and Galicia, which have launched similar initiatives
The project of the Cartagena neighborhood Peral consists of the unfolding of the current center. The investment exceeds three million euros and will include paediatrics, polyvalent and social work areas, as well as women’s, physiotherapy and adult units.
With regard to the new health center in Abanilla, which will go out to tender in May, the project, endowed with 5.3 million euros, consists of the demolition of the current facilities and the construction of completely new ones. Among the services it will offer are pediatrics, family medicine, social work, a women’s unit and an adult unit, among others.
The two years of the coronavirus pandemic have been a severe test for the Primary Care resources of regional health. The demands for its improvement have occurred in recent months, such as the one made by letter to the Minister of Health at the beginning of April by doctors, nurses and users of the Murcian Society of Family and Community Nursing, the Association in Defense of Public Health, the Association of Health Users and the Murcian Society of Family and Community Medicine.
The regional Executive tries to respond to all of them with this initiative, which follows in the footsteps of other communities governed by the PP, such as Madrid and Galicia, which have also presented plans to strengthen the health infrastructure of primary care.
