López Miras advances that measures will be taken “in hours or days” to try to stop the new wave, and accuses the Ministry of inaction
The regional government is already preparing new restrictions to try to stop the new pandemic wave. It was advanced yesterday morning by the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, who warned that measures would be taken “in hours or days” if the Interterritorial Council, which was held in the afternoon, did not make “any decision as a State and for all the autonomous communities ». Finally, the Ministry left the application of its own measures in the hands of each territory, so the Governing Council will address the situation at its meeting today.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health regretted that the Government of Spain has not adopted “common measures for the entire national territory” and advanced that “the Region of Murcia will make decisions in line with the current situation to contain the escalation of infections, based on the technicians’ recommendations ”.
The counselor, Juan José Pedreño, insisted that it is “a mistake to propose 17 different summers.” It so happens that the Region of Murcia voted against the document with which the Ministry proposed a common de-escalation at the beginning of June for all of Spain, with closures inside the hotel industry based on average incidence rates. Finally, the plan did not go ahead amid accusations to the central government of a lack of dialogue and, since then, each community has designed its own de-escalation, in general with more lax criteria than those proposed by the Ministry. Yesterday, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, left the answer to the fifth wave in the hands of the autonomous governments.
The Ministry of Health has studied in the last hours what measures can be taken to try to stop the escalation of infections among the younger population. The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, affirmed that nightlife in the Region is “de facto closed” because “standing is not allowed and you have to consume at the table.” The closure is set at two in the morning. “We cannot see how infections increase every day and we cannot assume either as a country or as a Region that every day there is an increase of 50% and 70%,” said López Miras.
