Rainfall of 15 liters per square meter is expected in one hour
Autumn arrives in the Region of Murcia with rain and storms. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow alert for adverse weather events throughout the Community for this Sunday, the first after the change of season.
Although no meteorological complications are expected in the region for this Saturday, the Aemet warns of rains, with between 40 and 70% probability, of 15 liters per square meter in one hour during Sunday. In addition, the risk of storms is also expected throughout the Region.
These weather phenomena are expected to start around 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and last until midnight.
The notice warns of rains of up to 15 liters per square meter in one hour in some parts of the Region, such as Campo de Cartagena, so citizens are advised to avoid traveling on Sunday, check the drainpipes and scuppers of homes and do not park or drive through flood-prone areas. Nor wade any boulevard when carrying water.
Activated the pre-emergency phase in Cartagena
The Cartagena City Council has activated the Municipal Emergency Plan in the Pre-emergency phase, and has informed those responsible for the different municipal services to remain vigilant, given the yellow warning for rains in the Campo de Cartagena issued by the AEMET for this Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For its part, the City Council has prepared a special security device to deal with possible incidents that could occur in the forecast of heavy rains, a device in which the Local Police, Firefighters and Civil Protection participate.
Preventive measures have also been adopted, increasing the cleaning work in the sewage system in the most conflictive areas and the roads where there are usually difficulties when it rains will be controlled in case it is necessary to cut them off to traffic.
