Sierra Espuña is the area of the Region of Murcia that accumulated the greatest amount of rainfall in the last twelve hours, according to the data recorded by the Automatic Hydrological Information System
The rain left several incidents in Sierra Espuña on Tuesday. On the RM-515 road, as it passes through Sierra Espuña towards Mula, there were some landslides, since the rain left, according to environmental sources, in this month of March about 300 liters per square meter.
The landslides, on a small scale, also occurred in the area of Fuente Cequicas, on the C-25 road, at the access to the Alhama district of El Berro.
The park’s fountains, as well as the springs and streams also showed a large amount of water, but according to the Park’s forest services, without major problems until noon on Wednesday.
The rains led to the appearance of a phenomenon that occurs rarely: the emergence of Salto de Las Majadas, in the Gebas district of Alhama, located next to the RM-515 road.
In addition, the exit of the strong flow in the Rambla de Los Molinos or Espuña river, forced the Local Police to cut several roads in the area of the Alhama hiertos. According to forestry sources, this happened because the soil is not capable of absorbing so much water, despite the fact that it has not rained torrentially.
Sierra Espuña is the area of the Region of Murcia that accumulated the greatest amount of rainfall in the last twelve hours, according to data recorded by the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH) of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS).
Specifically, the Collado Bermejo pluviometry station, in the municipalities of Alhama de Murcia and Totana, is the one that has recorded the most accumulated rain in the last twelve hours, with 38 liters per square meter.
